Interview with Nancy Corcoran

Meet Sister Nancy Corcoran: the Roman Catholic nun fighting transgender discrimination (who also holds a degree in Feminist Liberation Theology and Ethics from Harvard!). Introduced to gender diversity by her students at Wellesley College, where she worked as a Catholic Chaplain, Nancy became a passionate voice of dissent in the church, working to fight the harmful ideologies around transness. Today, she accompanies families of transitioning children, providing religious counsel, acceptance and support. She is also an avid community presence, working with organizations such as TransParent and the Washington University Transgender Center.

“I found integrity not within the convent or the church, but in transgender, gender expansive, and intersex people being themselves.” Thank you, Sister Nancy Corcoran, for your work and for this character spotlight interview!
